Kunena Discuss doesn't create topic correctly #83

I have articles where the first sentence is visible, but registration is required to view the rest of the article. When Kunena Discuss creates a new topic, the contents of the article aren't displayed in the first post. Instead the user sees:

"This message contains an article, but you do not have permissions to see it."

If the user is logged in, the first sentence of the article is visible. But the user shouldn't have to be logged in to see only the first sentence. Basically, the logged in user sees what the guest user should see (the first sentence and a Read more link).

How to make the first sentence visible for an article in Joomla?

@severdia I'm not sure how you make the fist sentence visible for non-authorized users as by default Joomla doesn't allow user to see anything. Do you have some kind of module that does what you ?

Our article displaying code was direct copy from what Joomla was doing back in J!1.7.

Not quite accurate. Joomla will display whatever is before the [Read more] code to public users (there's an option in the menu item options for Category > Blog under Component called Show Authorized Links). If the user is not logged in, the link will say "Register to Read more" (with a link to the registration page). If they are logged in, the link will say "Read More" (with a link to the full article). The problem in this case is Kunena Discuss isn't checking for this setting and showing the first part of the article up to the [Read more] code ( < hr id="system-readmore" / > ).

Ok, so this IS a new feature, or at least something I've never notified before (we've taken the code from article view).

Not a new feature, just a missing part of the current feature. The Kunena Discuss implementation doesn't cover this use case.
