Just a thought here - something to share. And would be interested to hear any comments of course...

But do you want to know where I think AppImage may be great?

Well, have been using it to deploy software into the backend systems of SMEs, usually tools for database systems. Love the simplicity and portability of AppImage. While I'm aware that AppImage has an update mechanism, it is something I've never looked into. Rather, the environments we deploy AppImage are places where automatic updates are neither wanted or desirable. If the system works, they are things to be left alone. Everything moves so fast in the desktop space, but not so for backend.

For info, our typical deployment targets are: Alma/Rocky/RHEL, Oracle Linux and Ubuntu.
