As per latest reviews & comments, we might want to move original metacontroller instead. Specific features or enhancements of metac may be up-streamed if required.

Hence, on the long run metac will be maintained even with the proposal to move metacontroller to kubernetes-sigs.

@AmitKumarDas is there a timeline for this?

We are waiting till all legal approvals to move from GoogleCloudPlatform to Kubernetes is cleared.
However, @alaimo will start off with the first steps from below list:

step 1: convert this into a KEP that goes into under https://github.com/kubernetes/enhancements/tree/master/keps/sig-api-machinery

step 2 : open a issue request for repo migration in
https://github.com/kubernetes/org/issues/new/choose

step 3 : drop an email with the PR for step 1 and issue from step 2

step 4 : on a week day post the stuff from above to slack #sig-apimachinery channel

step 5 : add an agenda item in next sig-apimachinery weekly meeting

Thanks @AmitKumarDas. Yes, I plan to start working on step 1 soon. Likely not until next week. Right now we are still still trying to figure out schedules and adjust to school closures. I'll update this thread when a link to the work is available.
