Hebrew String Niqqud Counting Procedure

Letter with a Niqqudah underneath is a syllable.

Exceptions

A letter with a Sheva underneath is only sometimes a syllable.
DEFAULT ≠ SYLLABLE

Is a syllable if...

1. Letter is the first in word
2. Letter contains a Dagesh
3. Current letter has Sheva and next letter is same letter - without any niqqudah
4. Current letter has Sheva and next letter has Sheva (any letter) - second is counted
   • UNLESS:
     • Any Shevas are at the end of word (even two at once), event with Dagesh
5. Niqqudah on previous letter is strong
